Certainly not a grumpy old woman, the time comes when you take an interest in politics, you think for your self, you don't just accept what any of them say, you query it.

If only others did, unlike those that follow like sheep such as Glasgow North East where Labour has just won the Parliamentary seat, they have held it for 47 years and it is now the poorest constituency in Britain, worse than a third world country, with the biggest unemployment statistic in the country.

I have voted Tory for 50 years in every election bar the last Scottish election when I voted SNP only because I had known the candidate for 30 odd years and all that he had tried to do for our town, some thing that I never thought that I would do, SNP, BNP, no, Nationalist parties are lead by fanatics in my opinion and not ideal persons to run a country.

Still not made up my mind who will get my vote come the next election.

Hi, we never voted labour either - we both followed our parents conservative views. That all changed when we came to live in this village over thirty years ago. You could choose from official labour or independent labour!

We wait to see who is standing and vote for the one who we know personally to be hardworking. But like the counter parts in London, they all seem to be in it for the "ex's".

I feel quite shocked at myself, I never thought I was a political animal, but I seem to be growing into one! Or am I just a grumpy old woman?

intrigued, i think the fact that they are fundraising and working when they get out there is a good thing, and might make them thankful for the opportunities we have here,

it is the schemes like this which just send kids off on jollys, free holidays and the like which annoy me!

I wonder what the Bulgarians will make of them?

I doubt whether we would accept a coach load of Bulgarian ex drug addicts readily.

I suspect many of these kids have had hard lives. If it puts some of them on a better path that is good for them and for society so for me it is worth a try even though I am very indirectly paying for it!

I guess they'll be learning good community skills and they do have to help raise the money to fund the 'trip'. It could well be a turning point for them especially when they see less privileged youngsters.

I think that more schemes like this would be a good thing.

I think it's a fantastic idea, i live beside a princes trust building and they have 16-21 year olds coming in each da keeping them of the streets out of troube and give them something to aim for. The people taking part have came through a hard thing regarding drugs. They are paying for the trip through various fundraisers and will be helping the lives of hundreds of children, that takes alot of gut's for anyone to do. More inititives like that are needed in todays society

Yes Marika, I can well see the point that you are making and for those that must go out to work daily and do not get this sort of opportunity, it does seem unfair.

Many, if not most of these kids will be, or have been, reliant on drugs, some are beyond help, but I imagine that those that would join a group like this may be the ones that are attempting to stop and probably should be helped, and, in turn, will help the community.

Their present condition would probably mean that no employer would welcome them if there were any jobs available but an experience like the one planned may help.

Very much in their favour is the fact that they will be raising the money to pay for the trip and it will not be financed by the tax payer.

I think that if they have this drug history, then this can only be a good thing. They have asted their lives for a long time and now they not only have the opportnity to learn something, they can also put something back at the same time. Clackmannanshire is known as The Wee County because it is the smallest county in Scotland. In some areas there are no opportunities and these kids get dran into the drug culture very easily. It is not a wealthy area. I think the whole scheme is a grand idea, particularly as they are raising funds for themselves as well. It isnt just a funded jolly. It is an opportunity for them to step back into society in a whorthwhile and fulfillingway.

Using young people with "a history of offending and substance misuse" to "improve life for residents of an orphanage" sounds great to me! They are both unemployed and doing a very good thing. I applaud the scheme.

Yep, saw it, well, not quite watched it, I was waiting for the news to come on. Party political progs are just that, electioneering, no one to argue with them or ask questions and it will get a lot worse as we approach the next election.

I have never voted labour although in the old days I respected them for the support that they did give to the work force, that was until the trade unions got to big and as near as dammit were telling the government what to do as they were the ones paying the party's expenses.

Blair and his clique saw the writing on the wall and realised that if the party did not change they would disappear for ever. He did sound good at first but his pandering to the upper class and money men was the start of what is now ending in disaster.

End of my views, sorry.

There was a party political on tonight, after the Queens speech, that got the steam coming out of my ears. They were saying what Labour does for the workers. How dare they when = One third unemployed - one third on stike and the other third working blooming hard for whatever they can get! Quite given me indigestion too. We shall have to stop having our evening meal at six o clock.

If the garage is 3 metres away the you can walk to the garage, get a platic petrol can and then fill it up with fuel and take it back to your car and that should be enough to get you back?
