Everyone can hear Brian the dog but usually only Brian can talk and hear Stewie the baby out of the family whereas other characters outside the family can hear Stewie.

It changes often though as the show has bad continuity issues

Battenburg I think is that pink and yellow checker board layered cake.

I'm with Znethru: set yourself specific times: I will start this at 2PM tomorrow and will work on it for 2 hours solidly, whatever else happens. It helps if you really want to do it too.

I'd also add: carrot and stick.
