Depends on who is doing the telling. Reverse psychology has a way of sneaking about.

Depends on wether what they are telling you to do is for your own good or not and wether you trust them.

Your life is your responsibility, not someone else's, so you should take responsibility for it by considering all the pro's and con's, and any advice offered, then make up your own mind.

If you're capable of making up your own mind as a reasonable person, then neither, surely? Don't categorically do the opposite 'just because' but only do as someone tells you if you can't make up your own mind (from an emotional state or illness) or if it's sterling advice!
