Value added or not?
@ 2009-11-19 – 11:57:22
I've been reading round a few blogs and came across this I found myself thinking "how do they get "time off" from being unemployed to take part in a trip like this?" Sorry to sound cynical, but I have my doubts about the "added value" of such schemes. It could be seen as an incentive to remain unemployed. I hope I'm wrong and the outcome is worthwhile for all concerned. What do you think?

8 miles left
@ 2009-11-18 – 10:17:02
If you have, according to your car, enough petrol for 8 miles (yeah I know I shouldn't let it get that low!) would that be a reason for it not to start?
Mine is stuck in the supermarket carpark about 3 metres from the petrol station - yeah, I should have got it going in! and it won't start, hubby has to go up north today and as soon as I see him I now need to ask him for a lift back to the car. He will say it is because it is so low on fuel, but is he right? -
How about in Yorkshire?
@ 2009-11-17 – 16:31:54
If all of these global warming fanatics are right and all low laying ground, such as, along side the River Thames, will be flooded, Why are there no plans for building a new Parliament building somewhere high such as the Yorkshire Dales National Park?

Is there a mobile version of Blog? Kind of similar to mobile facebook where it gets scaled down without all the large graphics etc so it makes it easier to access via mobile phone?

This is more a meme than a question, but the idea is that you fill in the formula in your own unique way.

Hello all.
@ 2009-11-15 – 14:26:22
I have not caught up with a message of welcome to new members for a while and I apologize for that.
This group blog has, since it commenced about 18 months ago, been very well supported, and that is thanks to all of those that have involved them selves, visited and posted. "Ask or Answer" is well above better known sites with the responses to questions and other posts achieving an average of 14 replies to each post. Thanks to all and Tom ( Seaside Man ) for polaying his part as moderator.
Recently there was a logo in the right hand side column asking you to buy a poppy for remembrance day, now there is a new logo,"16 Days".
"The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is an international campaign originating from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute sponsored by the Center for Women's Global Leadership in 1991."
More information can be found at, http://www.cwgl.rutgers.edu/16days/about.htmlThis is a non-commercial site, as was the "poppy", If you have a similar website or cause that you would like to have mentioned please PM me.
To all members and visitors, keep well, and again, thanks for joining in.

PMs
@ 2009-11-13 – 16:22:25
Forgive me if I'm being thick here but can you only send someone a private message on here if they are actually online at the time you send it??
I thought I used to be able to message people and they'd pick them up when they logged in but I just tried to reply to someone who was online when they sent their message, but has since gone offline and my message won't send, I just get a blank screen once I press send instead of message sent.

OK here goes
@ 2009-11-12 – 14:19:56

I have been toying with the idea of posting a camera phone pictures in a form of a book or something. Now here is the question. I have saved all the pictures or most of them that I emailed from phone to email and opened a folder in my yahoo mail to save. How do I get them from the folder and into a program that I can create what I want to create with them. I hope that makes sense and maybe someone has a few ideas. I really have this creative flow going but and I really dont know what all I am going to do with them but I have to get them into one place were I can move them around and place them on other forms.
Thanks for the help -

Is There Any Way To........
@ 2009-11-07 – 14:16:42
Block one individual from commenting on your posts? You can block someone from messaging you but what about this?
Probaly a few here are getting "random", unassociated comments and its tiresome to have to delete them.
Wouldn't it be nice just to block that user from commenting. -
John Fitzgerald Kennedy
@ 2009-11-07 – 13:20:04
When JFK gave his famous speech at Rice University in 1962 he stated that:
We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy - but because they are hard!
One thing has always intrigued me about this, and that is what are/were "the other things"?
It has always struck me as a bit too vague to be included in that sentence considering the enormity of the task of going to the Moon. -
Contact details for BCUK Management (edit: resolved)
@ 2009-11-05 – 12:59:12
Do any of you have them?
I'm particularly keen to be able to get in touch with the BCUK Customer Services Manager to discuss the tagging fiasco. Does anyone know if such a person exists or how to contact them?
It's all very well talking to Rampage, Cyzzie etc. who do a fine job at the sharp end, but on this occasion we need answers from higher up the management chain.
Thanks, Tom.
(Edit): These are the 2 managers:

Am I Overreacting?
@ 2009-11-05 – 10:22:56
Early this morning I logged on to blog to encounter a raft of improvements.
Useful tabs had vanished completely - Recent Posts along with Groups.
No more Buzz or Featured Blogs - Who’s on Line etcetera whatever!
I followed the Link to recent posts - Ninety percent were spam.
All in all I can’t help feeling that Blog UK has lost it’s way!
Is it just me - Am I overreacting - Did somebody mention Tags?

Ringtones
@ 2009-11-05 – 09:47:40
Hello, my name is Mira and I'm techie illiterate , for the most part , anyway.
The other day , I got a new mobile phone, my second ever and things have progressed over the past 5 years
Can anyone tell me how to download a ring tone? Is it complicated ? What does it entail? Will I be able to do it myself ?
The ringtones on my phone ( samsung GT-E2120 ) are quite boring but I have found a site that send free ringtones and this one is a bollywood one at that. It is actually a lovely mantra

http://www.zedge.net/ringtones/694338/gayatri-mantra-ringtone/?pos=9&search=om
There's also a nice deep OMm there.
Thank you in advance

Are you happy with the new tag system?
@ 2009-11-04 – 17:01:57
Functionality has been reduced and we weren't consulted or warned. Furthermore, content that we created has been deleted. I think this is not acceptable. What do you think?
If you are not happy with this, please email support@blog.co.uk and let them know your feelings!

@ 2009-11-04 – 12:56:49
I have just received a private message rom blog.co.uk telling me I have been tagged with 'dancing'.
What does this mean?
Does this happen to everyone or has someone done this just to me?
I don't think I've ever mentioned dancing! -

MOVE OUT THE FRIGGING WAY!
@ 2009-11-03 – 23:22:39
Ok...why do people feel it is necessary to walk right in front of me when i am in a rush and agitated enough as it is and cannot sense this and so continue to walk at the snail-like pace...when i try to overtake them, this is the time the seem to feel my angry presence and move so that once again they are blocking my path, i fing this intensly annoying and causes me to become rather misanthropic.
My question is this; how do i get these brain dead idiots to move and at the same time express my frustration?
do i smack them in the back of the head? Please help as i am unaware of the etiquette in such a situation

Report as inappropriate
@ 2009-11-03 – 11:42:30
I accidentally clicked on "report as inappropriate" on a bloggers details. Jittery damn sensitive new Labtec mouse I've got.....His comment disappeared from a post on my blog and I'm just wondering what the consequences are for him.

Switch to the new editor
@ 2009-11-03 – 11:39:27
I always use the "switch to the new editor" button as it saves messing with html to reposition photos, add new text etc if you use the initial "post contents" window. It's not new anymore. Is there any way of going straight to the new editor window without having to click on the button...?
cheers -
any other way?
@ 2009-11-03 – 04:25:50
You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist... so which way lol? :-*

Motorways
@ 2009-11-02 – 22:00:02
Ok, we were a bit bored in the waiting room earlier but this question came up..
Were motorways numbered in the order that they were built?
The M1 is the oldest motorway and is 50 years old but did the M2 come next followed by the M3?
My OH says the M69 was built before the M40 though so if they weren't done in order, why on earth were they numbered as they have been??

Er...you've got your hands in your trousers?
@ 2009-11-02 – 12:35:18
Can some kind person take the time to explain to me exactly why increasing amounts of younger gentlemen(and others not so young), who we have come to know as chavs and the like, seem to be walking around with their hands down the front of their trousers holding what i can only guess is their inadequate genitals?
Am I the only one who has noticed this?
They stand around in groups all with their hands down their pants, you must have seen it!?
I have seen groups people actually speaking to these weirdos as if nothing was slightly off, as they stand their unashamedley with their dirty mits delving around in their boxer shorts.
It seems to me it is a fashion, like the low slung jeans that people are wearing at the moment. But I can understand that someone might see someone dressed that way and think thats cool I'll wear my trousers like that too. But who sees a bloke standing round with his hands in his pants and thinks 'yeah I wanna look that like guy!' 'god damn thats one ice cold rudeboi!'
Could this be classed as indecent behaviour?
Why do they do it?
Where did it start? (apparently the low slung extremely baggy jeans started in american prisons for some reason) -
