IS WHITE WINE THE ANSWER
@ 2009-07-29 – 20:19:39
On holiday I found that a 'SMALL' glass of dry white wine will settle a gastric stomache and settle flatulance. This is something that many Russian and German people take at breakfast time. In the hotel where we stayed this was provided FREE.

How Do I
@ 2009-07-28 – 18:41:05
Get my Daughter recognised for what she done for me last week?
To put you in the picture, last Friday whilst we were away camping we went hiking up in one of the Scottish Glens. I fell severly hurting myself. Daylight was running out and i had no signal on my phone, if i had a signal i would have phoned mountain rescue. My daughter who is 9 helped me by holding me up, going in front and checking the footing for ditches, mud swamps etc. We had came down the hill a different way from which we went up and she managed to navigate us both back to where we had set up camp. If it had'nt been for her then i would have been well and truly goosed.
I really think she deserves recognition for what she done but have no idea how to go about it. Does anyone have any idea's?
Thanks in advance, Donna

WHY on earth
@ 2009-07-23 – 17:36:53
is this chap now a featured blogger? Not that I don't wish him well, and for any of you who can read his blog then hopefully this post has served to introduce you to him, but the trouble is I can't understand any of his blogs, and I rather suspect that not many can!
I thought the whole point of featured blogs was to draw our attention to blogs that we might find interesting, but this is blog.co.uk for heaven's sake! How on earth are most of the members here supposed to enjoy a blog they cannot read!

FAO women over 45
@ 2009-07-23 – 15:38:23
This is a long shot but I have no-one of my own age (who has an intact womb!) to ask.
Does the menopause create a tiredness that is so very hard to overcome? Does it make you feel as if you are on another planet and walking through treacle?
I am so sick of feeling tired and useless, with a memory that seems to have vanished into thin air. If I don't write endless memos I can't get through the day.
I'd love to hear your experiences - perhaps would be better to email me? hedgewitch_art@hotmail.com
Thanks from a fed up 'old' woman. -

Does a Belief in a Deity show weakness?
@ 2009-07-20 – 13:03:42
Belief in a God or the supernatural is, nowadays often attributed to one's mind labouring under a delusion, a flight of fancy, mental trickery or simple indoctrination by external, human powers.
If this is the case, does that mean that 'believers' have a weakness that allows them to fall into this trap? Contemporary studies attempt to find the part of the brain that gives people a pre-disposition to belief, while Dawkin's famously calls it a 'Delusion'. Meanwhile many MANY normal people imply that believers are, to put it succinctly - stupid.
Thoughts?

I live in preston, lancs which was is criss crossed by ancient viking travel routes and has a rich roman history.I might find something of value and significance.
My question is what if i find something? will it be mine? is it legal? If anybody knows anything abou british laws concerned with treasure hunting, please do let me know. -
What makes a bully?
@ 2009-07-14 – 15:08:05
You know.....when you observe children in a playground there are always a few that will pick out a kid who perhaps wears glasses, or has large ears, or maybe is in some way dressed differently to the majority, and they will bully that child, or call him names or laugh at him. In adulthood similarly there are always some who will try to do down those who they consider to be different to their own perceived norm.
Why are some people like this? Is it in the genes to establish a pecking order as do animals? The animal instinct that makes chicks in a nest push the smallest weakest one out, so the remainder will have more food, and therefore a better chance of survival? The instinct that alpha wolves have to dominate their pack? Is this what bullying is all about?
I suspect it is! What do you think, and how can we solve it?

Bereavement counselling
@ 2009-07-10 – 10:34:04
I have to write an essay on the benefits of bereavement counselling, in order for it not to biased (I am a bereavement counsellor), I wondered if you'd share your thoughts with me?
Would you /have you use a bereavement counsellor? Why do that instead of turning to a family member or friend?
Thanks so much.

Any Idea's ?
@ 2009-07-07 – 11:30:11
I'm helping my Mum sort out her flat for it going on the market. She has got contact sheets on her inside glass which is to be taken off. I think it's called contact? It's kinda like sticky back laminate, it was used years ago to pretty up kitchen worktops and used as splashback etc. Any idea's on how to get it off? It is a nightmare of a job as the plastic coating doesnt come off easily and as its plastic i can't get anything to penetrate it. I have sussed out that once the plastic is off that white spirit takes the glue off easily but as it took me four hours to get one window done i'm looking for a quicker easier soloution.

Royally pissed off
@ 2009-07-01 – 09:18:35
Here is the background. More than 3 years ago I had a mobile phone from 3G, 2 months into the contract it was stolen in New York. Hubby rang them and cancelled the phone and I never asked for or got another one to replace it. The phone was never used after this date. I paid as per my contract every month for the remaining 10 months of the year i had signed up for. Then I wrote cancelling the contract on the non-existent phone.
About 6 months later they passed my debt of £63 - which they said was 2 months contract and a fee onto debt collectors. I rang them and explained that if they wanted to take me to court they should do so, as there wasn't a court in the land that would think it equitable of the phone company to charge me for a contract which had not been in use for so long. Nor would they think it reasonable for the phone company to assume I would renew a contract for line rental when i had neither phone nor sim. They agreed and said they would pass it back to 3G.
This morning I get a letter (sent to my brother in laws address in the North) from another debt collector demanding the £63! I was livid, so I phoned them and was told in no uncertain terms that if I don't pay they will take legal action - I told them to go ahead, and they said at best I would have a default against my name.
My question is this
Should I pay the bloody money just to get them off my back even though I think it is grossly unfair? Would you?? -
