"No genuine spiritual worker whether they are based within the 'New Age', or within any of the genuine religions will ever ask for a payment to offer prayers on our behalf"
Do you agree with this statement?
Tom.

I agree
not ask for, but maybe a little something in the begging bowl for their physical needs...
thinking of the eastern monks and nuns, over here I don't think it's right to ask for money for prayers...you make an offering in the box but not given directly to the person praying for you...goes towards the parish or the community...GBHs...XXX
Sounds like a good attitude...
Agree with this... praying can take time!
Since there are no such things as genuine spiritual workers and genuine religions, it seems pointless to attempt a detailed answer.
Send us a quid, and I will get some gods to explain my answer.
I think you're on dodgy ground saying there are no "genuine religions", but it all depends how you define genuine and religion...
What I mean is, no religions are true.
"no religions are true"
That's a bold statement. For it to be a true statement, you would have to have rigorously demonstrated the falsehood of every religion that has ever existed and all imaginable ones too. You could tone it down to:
"I believe no religions are true"
But then you're into faith territory yourself.

Evening Tom!!
At BCUK which is a social site I think to
"request payment of service" is wrong regarding
healing or spiritual advice especially with people of whom you have never met!! Professional qualifications of authenticity is another issue.
There are many spiritual groups here at BCUK of which I am a member who have debates and give reflective advise and that is wonderful they are "open" and have no restrictive rules and boundries in order to join.
When you start to plug yourself and request payment
I think is an issue that I would be very concerned about!!
Thank you Tom for raising this question!!
I have recently written a post regarding my concerns
on this issue and recieved many valid comments!!
There are unscrupulous individuals operating within all spheres .
Nothing wrong with inviting a non-mandatory donation if they are sincere people with the best intentions .
'Buyer Beware' ! .
Martin .
Absolutely Martin, unscrupulous people abound in all walks of life.
In response to a post on this site I once looked up 'Hexing' , and there's even a site who offer to hex , or curse someone , for a fee presumably .
What's really despicable is the 'psychic' premium rate phone lines ,
Martin .
I didn't know such things existed, thanks Martin.
Tom.
Hmm it happnes in India.... thats the way the spiritual workers earn their living
i had a relation who was very rich worth several million, got ill and spent the lot trying to get better, seeking spiritual help and different treatments around the world,
when all the money was gone he was of no inteeerest to any one except his local minister who spent many of his last hours with.
What a very sad tale...
There are those that don't ask, but do expect.
I read palms and tarot, I never ask for or expect money, I never will. However I don't support myself by fortune telling, I do it to assist those who may need some guidance also I don't offer, they need to ask me. Professional fortune tellers operate a business, I don't.
Your original question was about offering prayers for payment, I think you don't need anyone to prayer or speak to the divine on your behalf, no one needs a middle man you can do it yourself.
That sounds perfect to me.
Tom.

I dont think it is right to ask for money just to pray for someone, although even the church expects everyone to contribute for the service - to pay their way into heaven and it has always been that way. It is wrong morally, but legally I suppose they are asking to be paid for a service they are providing! I wouldn't personally give to them, but then i wouldn't ask for their prayers either. They pray on the vulnerable and the weak in my opinion and they benefit (as the church has always done) from fear and pain.
"to pay their way into heaven" ??
I don't think all sects think this way.
To pay there way to somewhere similar at least - it is the only way to control the masses isn't it? After all, even suicide bombers do it because they are assured a place!
Sorry, that wasn't what I meant. Lutheran churches, for example, don't make collections in services and some other sects don't too. It's to stop people showing off about how pious they are.
Tom.
Oh I see! I don't know much about Lutherans to be honest, but there surely must be a trade off somewhere - there usually is! Must look it up as I am looking for a religion that suits me x
Good luck with your search :-)
I think it is wrong and most of them tell you that you have a curse that they need to clear and then they put a price to see if you are serious. They make a good living here in the US because so many people are looking for a quick fix and a solution to their problems that have nothing to do with curses and evil spirits around them. One of my co-workers spent thousands and nothing ever got better for her because she gave her power over to someone that didn't give a damn about her.
That's terrible. Exploiting vulnerable people is a very low trick.
