What card is it?

Robert A Wilson thinks so:
"Don't believe anything. Regard things on a scale of probabilities.
The things that seem most absurd, put under 'Low Probability', and
the things that seem most plausible, you put under 'High
Probability'. Never believe anything. Once you believe anything, you
stop thinking about it."
What do you think?
Cheers, Tom.

Where would you retire if money was no problem?
Personally, I can see myself either in Canada or Norway - I like it cool and with lots of woodland

Dominic was kind enough to send me a link to last nights Question Time, and I must admit I am disgusted by the responses from panelists and audience about the Indian terror attack.
I have written a bit on it here: http://bumface.blog.co.uk/2008/11/28/indian-bombings-5126420 [in my anger I got it wrong, it wasn't a bombing...]
My question to you is, what causes people to go and do this kind of thing?
Have you heard of the Indian Revolution of 1857, are you aware of it's causes and the repurcussions from it?
How is the terrorism we are seeing in India today any different, just because now we have so-called "innocent" people in India?
["Representatives from a number of construction firms operating in India said staff had been accounted for, with workers from Cyril Sweett, Atkins, Lewis and Hickey, Infrastructure India, Gleeds and Mott MacDonald all said to be safe and well.
Gleeds are working on a shopping centre in Thane, a suburb of Mumbai. Fourteen of its staff stayed in the Taj Mahal hotel, one of the buildings which was targeted in the attacks, just last week."

I am thinking smoked salmon and scrambled eggs at the moment with a sprinkling of crispy bacon bits accompanied by a glass of bucks fizz. Thoughts?

I never have a problem sleeping. I could "sleep on a clothes line" as my father used to say. I sleep deeply and dream fascinating dreams. If I get up in the night, I go straight off again as soon as my head hits the pillow. Nothing much disturbs my slumber, at night, after lunch, after dinner. I sleep like a baby. But ... I'm told I snore!
I am not aware of snoring, though occasionally a sudden snort might wake me for a moment, but I accept it as a fact since tape-recordings have been played back to me.
Mrs Grumpus, on the other hand, has mild insomnia. We have different sleep patterns and she has trouble sleeping anyway, whether I'm there or not. I feel bad that my snoring sometimes keeps her awake and I have tried various methods of stopping, including, nasal sprays, catarrh pastilles, nose strips, different pillows, nothing works permanently. Of course, I draw the line at surgery ... MRSA, C-Diff and all that.
Mrs Grumpus wakes at the slightest noise, and can't get back to sleep for hours. She starts mulling over problems that might never happen, things she can't do anything about. She says relaxation techniques don't work. Sometimes she'll take herself off to another bedroom for the rest of the night.
My question is: Is it MY problem or HERS?
I should add, our relationship is rock solid.

It has been said that this bailout instantly puts every American family in $80,000 debt.
Does this make you angry? It makes me angry. They are creating a new world order without consulting us.
SHOULD WE BE SCARED OR SHOULD WE BE ANGRY?

I heard on the radio the other day that 30% of people who join up to singles and dating websites are in fact not single.
Does this figure justify the creation of dating websites for people already attached, or do you think it is making money from the weakness of certain relationships?
Bearing in mind that everyone who joins these websites KNOW that the other users are already attached, whereas with a regular one they may be being lied to by one third of the users.

The reason I ask this question is because "drinks are three"...
i.e. I have three drinks in front of me.
Your clues are as follows:
one is hot
two are in glasses
one is short
two are the same colour
I am drinking them almost at random and the evening seems to be improving although of course it will very soon be the morning!

Does anybody say a word diferently from how it should be?
The reason i ask is Jade has a couple and i thought she would grow out of it as her speech improved but she has'nt.
For "Remote" She says "Marote"
For "Humans She says "Qumans"

I also have a friend who calls "Trousers" "Trooders"?

... but nothing too profound.
What book / film / author do you think is most accurate in predicting the future? Does that make sense? It's always difficult when talking about stuff like this, I get all my tenses mixed up.
What I mean is, do you think The Fifth Element is a likely future scenario, or will it be more like, erm, Blade Runner.
Personally I think this is an excellent question, so I expect great answers.

"Spending a few days dead for tax purposes."
I am trying to get in touch with the following:
Person 1 - far too tied up emptying and decorating an attic.
Person 2 - missing presumed ill or stressed out.
Person 3 - missing presumed ill, stressed out or asleep.
Person 4 - generally too stressed out to get in touch with me.
Person 5 - generally too busy to get in touch with me.

Has anyone else ever fallen for someone that they have never met face to face?
I met someone two years ago via chatting, texts, and texting. He is so brilliant and amazing. I really felt as though he was a kindred spirit. We hardly ever speak anymore but I have never forgotten him and think of him at least once a day. Am I strange?

From Mein Kampf:
"I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator ..."
The 25-point declaration of Nazism in 1920 included this point 24:
"24. ...The Party, as such, stands for positive Christianity, but does not bind itself in the matter of creed to any particular confession..."
Hitler, Munich, 1st August 1923
"It matters not whether these weapons of ours are humane: if they gain us our freedom, they are justified before our conscience and before our God."
Hitler, 1 Feb 1933.
"This the national government will regard its first and foremost duty to restore the unity of spirit and purpose of our Volk. It will preserve and defend the foundations upon which the power of our nation rests. It will take Christianity, as the basis of our collective morality, and the family as the nucleus of our Volk and state, under its firm protection....May God Almighty take our work into his grace, give true form to our will, bless our insight, and endow us with the trust of our Volk."
Hitler, Berlin, 24 Oct. 1933
" We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out"
----------
The Nazis are often used by some partisan Christians as the prime example of atheistic evil, yet as these quotes demonstrate the matter may not be so simple. Hitler himself was brought up as a Catholic.
What are your thoughts on these matters?
Tom.

Natalie needed a new purse and was going to buy one, but i said "No!, u can't buy yourself a purse, it's unlucky!, I'll buy u one"
She looked at me as if i was mad.
Anyone else heard of this superstition, i heard it from my mum.
Oh and then u have to "Hansel or Hancel it"
Which means, put some money in it before u give them it for good luck.
It was'nt a note or anything just a few coins.

if there was one thing you were given a chance to change, something about your life, your past, something you did perhaps, what would it be?
for me..hmm ive made many mistakes all of which has landed me in a terrible mess at the moment....but despite my zombie-like demeanor i think its probably better off this way. at least for me it wont take much to tear away the fabric right??? but its hurt so many people unconditionally...its like my existence, everything i say and do hurts someone...hmmm..ill live with the guilt and the trauma..or maybe not..i dont know...
what about you?

i heard this one off my friend, but am not too sure about it...can someone please enlighten me and keep it light at the same time...?
im a little more than dense when it comes to these theories and blah-ti-blah-ti-da. the concepts i love but the application and the equations..ugh!
@ 2008-11-04 – 13:15:55
what do you have to say about this in purely philosophical terms? well all sorts of answers are welcome even those containing math equations (which is like gassing my brain cells). i read this book once by A.E. DYSON or some one like that on this "fifth dimension," it started off on a pretty interesting note but in the end it sounded like he wrote a fuck fat book just to convert some "lost souls" into Christianity...>_< what a bummer...but the concept of the fifth dimension is quite interesting...hmmm what say you mortals?
