If you have a large spider in the house what do you do?
Thanks
Maybe they're even bigger in the hills!
What exactly is it about them you don't like?
I don't mind them myself and although various people have said they don't like spiders no-one has really been able to explain why.
Alan
Hmmm, yes, that's true!
I'm not sure why I don't like them, I can deal with them if I have to but my first instinct is to get as far away as possible
My wife says its because they send shivers down her spine and the thought of touching one (or one touching her)is unbearable. It sounds as if you and the other female responders all have an innate sense about them.
I do not particularly like them but don't have the same instinctive feeling. I wonder where it came from?
Alan
I do not mind them I like to watch them and they kill insects like fly's so that is a bonus!
Not being sexist usually females ask for them to be removed;
I capture and place outside.
Yes, much the same, I pick them up and put them outside too. Strange but it is always my wife that sees them first!
Alan
They actively check there domain. If I see one first I smile am evil smile
and await the shreek!
I love spiders and am fascinated by them
We have done a project on them with the children at school.
girls and boys explore and have done collage work that has been displayed in there class rooms.
Fear has been replaced with curiosty and fascination and understanding of these wonderful creatures.
I know many people have phobias about spiders....
As long as the do for flys they as OK by me ![]()
Now I really do not like flies. Is this true for those of you who are OK with spiders?
If I remember the rhyme OK wasn't it a Grandma who was at the top of the food chain? My Grandma, who looked after me was mad and locked me out of the house when I was 3. Maybe thats why I see spiders are relatively benign!
Alan
That is facinating stuff! Do you Blog that?
I've just dealt with that problem. Pick it up with a flannel and put it out of the front door.
Sorted ![]()
Good! Thanks Marian
If it is a really big one would you use a towel?
Alan
It was three inches long but I still used a flannel
I'm impressed!
Was it really three inches????
Be honest
Alan
Put a pint glass over them, slide a card under, making sure not to trap any legs, and take it outside and shake glass. Make sure it's not still clinging!
Tom.
Thanks Tom
I prefer to use my hands. I always think I am not going to like it but once I can't see them its fine.
Look a prat when I throw them out of the front door though!
Alan
Get him indoors to put it outside ![]()
You have him well trained!
Alan
use something long and can chase it out ...
I can never get them to run in the right direction!
Thanks
Alan
I'm not bothered by them- I dont' like them in my bedroom only because I wouldn't want it to crawl into my mouth! I tend to just pick them up with fingers and place on a window sill outside or just outside the door so they can stay indoors without being actively in my flat.
Thanks
Good to hear someone else picks them up!
Strange how everyone so far says they just move them elsewhere.
Perhaps those with more aggressive solutions don't want to admit it!
Alan
Though if the cat gets there first, she eats them.. she doesn't like the legs though, spits them out.
Only if he's in the bathroomm...down the plughole, helped by a shower or bath tap. Preferably a shower attachment...
I always used to think they would only come back up with their mates now they had found water!
Presumably I was wrong!
Alan
They can try! I will shower them down again. Seriously, though, I like at least a couple in the bathroom, keeps the flies away
Have to be careful that they don't get too big though! ![]()
I only move them if my daughter comes as she won't enter the house
I really do not mind them PLEASE NOTE I AM FEMALE (for those spider sexists). They do not bother me no matter what size in fact Fred is on the ceiling right now
Good. That makes two of you who seem OK with them.
Your text about Fred reminded me of Boris the Spider.
Ring any bells?
Oh
Good!
Only spider so far to come to a sticky end.
Hello!!
Not eveyone likes spiders.... that is true
and its grate to see all these comments to your dilemma!!
I actually find them fascinating creatures.... female and all!!!!!!!!!
Hope all is well now and the creature is back in his natural habitat.
luv Julie xx
Hmmm it is cyclical really.
Spider inside.
I throw it out.
Spider inside (may or may not be the same spider or a relative)
I throw it out
etc
Is this the true meaning of recycling?
