I'm sure most of us have been in this situation: you're helping a friend shop for a new pair of trousers and they try on a very fashionable pair, reduced in the sale, and YOU THINK they are completely unflattering and make their bum look the size of a small country. They then ask you the dreaded question:
"Do These Make My Bum Look Big"?

The reason one would have got into the mess with having to ask the question asked is having given the wrong answer to:
Let's go shopping
Which I know is phrased as a statement but should always be taken as a question!

They're not the most flattering pair I have ever seen on you - I'm not sure the cut suits you. Try something else perhaps.
I would reply "No, the amount you eat makes your arse look big."
