Do you get an email when someone replies to a post or comment of yours?
Tom.
Me too. I think if you don't, that's an admission that you don't want discussions.
Tom.
Yes i do. BUT this system doesn't work well for me lol as i don't check my emails every day!
Again it's a time thing. I am sure that I would be much happier if I focused less on work and more on leisure and blogging etc. But until I get that personal assistant it's just not gonna happen!
Shame cos I much prefer it here than at work! ![]()
Gotcha. Work and family always have to come first.

Mine's on. yes, sometimes I get unwanted e-mail's, sure, but it is a good way for me to keep track of replies, and I can screen them first, before going on the blog...plus, I can find out where the person is writing from, if need be...as in the case of tin-foil hat man, recently (whom still seems to be lurking around, according to feedjit widget.)
Some great reasons there, thanks for them.
Tom.
Yip, I've always had them switched on.
I think the only way you could use a site like this without notification on would be if you only ever wrote your own blog and never commented on anyone else's. I know at least one blogger who does that and he has no friends.
Tom.
It might be that he doesn't understand yet how it works. Or maybe he doesn't want to interact much?
That is almost certainly true for some. In this case, I commented on his blog entirely politely and reasonably and the next day it had been deleted. I checked his profile and he had no friends and hadn't made a single comment in over a year.
Some people treat this place like a personal diary and aren't interested in anyone else reading it. That's fair enough, I guess we all have our own reasons.
Tom.
I like to receive email notifications so prompt replies can be made.
It's nice to get emails that are not trying to sell me loans or enlarge certain parts of my anatomy.
XoD.
Same here - conversations flow more smoothly with prompt notification.
Tom.
No... But then I don't know how to do that...?
This site seems ok... I think you get an email if someone replies to your comment, not to the thread in general? But other sites I just revisit if I've said something I think others might reply to.
I usually remember where I've left those comments, and try to re-visit every now and then. Some will slip through the net, but then I comment a lot and I don't expect people to be interested in what I have to say.
I mean, I have it switched off. I think.
You can't blame me, I don't even know how to comment properly.
I think you're only the 2nd person I've come across who has it switched off. Thanks for replying.
Tom.
Got an email fer this one... does it count?
Wouldn't want to be in a minority... I hear they have it tough...
There we are, you're in the club then!
Tom.
I am on!
Yes, I lost them for a while through a glitch with Hotmail and BCUK, but have them back...was very irritating not to have them...GBHs...XX
That would make discussions much more difficult.
Tom.
I get e-mail notifications, but don't check my e-mail everyday. Handy to have them though.
Indeed, they are most handy. I'm a bit of an email junkie...
Tom.
I do, but that's only because I don;t get that many comments... if I was like some of you guys with 100 friends etc and always on 'the buzz' I'd turn it off as it'd clog up my inbox... I'd still check to see if someone needs replying but it'd mean older blog comments would get neglected.
I think it saves time to have it on, because you get told when there is a reply rather than having to look. If I got too many replies I'd just filter them into a folder.
Tom.
yes don't want to miss anything.
Haha, good answer!
