Two years ago I joined up with NTL for broadband, telephone land-line and digital television at a cost of £40 per month.
Since then, somehow I have become a member of Virgin media and the cost is now £46 per month.
I make very few telephone calls, I only need access to the free digital TV stations, and of course broadband.
Would I get a cheaper deal elsewhere?

However, I don't know if you've encountered this, Virgin's customer service is appalling. If you like being passed around from one call centre to another talking to people with variously unintelligble takes on the English language then make sure something goes wrong with your package. Otherwise it is very cheap and I suppose things don't go wrong that often (famous last words).

I have no complaints with the service Dominic, just don't like having the cost put up without being given an option.

Pro My deal is with TalkTalk and it works out about £26 per month. Calls are free except the occasional ones to mobiles or things like the Speaking Clock. As Mrs Grumpus spends literally hours on the phone, this is a good deal for us. I was paying BT £51 per month before switching.
Digital TV comes through Freeview so we have more channels than you could shake the remote at.
Broadband is included for free but the best speed I can ever connect at is 704Kbps, ie., less than 1meg. This may be the fault of TalkTalk or the BT landline (distance from exchange etc.), but since I have no interest in downloading large files I find it OK.
As I don't know any better and am bone idle, I have never queried the speed.

Thanks Grumpus, worth looking at, likewise, I never download any large things, I don't know what my broadband speed is as it always seems quick enough for me, that is, it works.

Pro You can get pretty good deals with Virgin Media Cable for Internet and Phone deals...they suggest what's best for you...and we've got a pretty decent combined phone/internet deal...pay circa £20 a month for phone with all calls free apart from the usual 0870 and mobile phone calls and 4mb of Internet download...I found the TV part terrible for customer service but the phone/internet has been very good on the whole...it's very confusing all the deals available so it's best to talk to somebody about what you use re the phone and what you want from the broadband facility...great big hugs...

I'm with virgin and only pay for the internet and it's £23 a month, Mo pays the tv and phone one. You could even just buy a digi box and that would save you too
