Would Gordon Brown have made a better church minister than a government minister?
What kind of man did the conflict during his formative years reared as the son of the manse and later as a follower of left wing politics produce?

Christianity is naturally a socialist religion, so it shouldn't cause him any issues. The only fair answer I can give to your question is that I like his aparent honesty, but think he makes a poor PM. Still better than Smily Bliar though.
Cheers, Tom.
A man with a conscience I should imagine, and a reluctance to lie, but unsure of himself as the Prime Minister still...he's got what he's yearned for ever since Tony Blair was chosen instead of him. It seems to me he's not a showman like Blair so is having difficulty becoming a figure of authority having taken a back seat for so long...I hope he finds his feet soon because he's going to lose a great deal if he doesn't...The problem is that there's a new shallowness now amongst the electorate in that they appear to want somebody who looks the part, even if he's a manipulator with little substance just so long as he can smile cheerfully, bounce along as if he's control, and repeat what his speech writers create as if they were his own thoughts and ideas...leaders are becoming clones of each other now and that's not good for anybody...
Can't disagree with your comments Jen, but it is he that has surrounded himself with "yes-men" and that does not make for a good leader in any field, except, maybe, the church.

I think his nose wouldn't grow as much as a minister of the church and then maybe it would.
As a politician I think his problem is that he does tell the truth more than the others. When he lied for Blair he got caught out. Apart from that, nice post.
