For many years now there has been a "Black Police Officers Association", I now read of plans to form a "Asian Police Officers Association", maybe there are others?
Does this cause divisions in our police force?
I do not want any of them. I want a Police Officer where the race, religion, sex, or anything else, even height, is of no importance at all. I want men and woman that can do the job of protecting the people of this country and catch criminals.

I agree that it creates racism but have to disagree about the Scottish Parliament and N.I. and Welsh Assemblies.
Scotland is a country in it's own right and should be allowed to govern it's people. Wales, although not a country, should still be allowed the same right. As for Northern Ireland it should never have been part of the UK in the first place. The "UK" is a long gone idea as it hasn't been //united// for a long long time, just a little longer than it hasn't been //"great"//!

Why do we allow these things to happen? I am sure that the majority of ordinary folk know that we are rushing down a slippery slope, Do we not care for the future of our country? Is it a case of "I'm alright"?

Yes it's racist but if you were to complain about it **you** would be called the racist!
I wonder if there's a White Police Officer's Association! - imagine the hell that would cause!

I think that "A White anything Association" would get you targeted as racist and possibly that is the way that it should be, the colour should not be the important part. I'm OK with, Mens' Associations, Womans' Associations, Gay Associations, Christians Associations, whatever, but, keep out the colour.

I see these organisational missions as a response to racism.
A form of pro-active defence or protection, if you will, against any racist attitudes expressed within our society which relate to quite specifically visible individuals.
Let's face it "Black" and "Asian" do not represent any single ethnicity. Both titles give us specific clues as to the nature of the issue involved. i.e "Black" is easily perceived whilst a person originating from a specific island or continent who happens to be black is not.
The same goes for Asian.
In time, of course, there may be reason for a "White" prefix. It will depend on the future mix of skin colours and how well we behave to one another.

Pro If there is institutionalized racism in the police force then these are necessary orgamizations. If there isn't, then they aren't.

Yes, of course it creates schisms, much as having a Scottish Parliament, Northern Ireland and Welsh Assemblies and differing health and socail provision. But focusing on the differences you naturally create an unbalanced approach.
Unfortuanetly your dream (which I share) is lost forever in a bit politically (not white that's for sure) cloud!
