A great reason for them Kevin, had not thought of that, trouble is when I finally get hold of them they are dead, drowned in the sugary water trap.

i hate wasps, but i find it weird that we dont generally like them because we cant get anything from them that we could eat lol

Never thought about them as a food source, possibly in batter like the Japanese do with their insects?

Yes Carla, I have read that there can be very serious problems after certain people get stung by the blighters you obviously have to be very careful, I presume you are in favour of getting rid of them.

Hi Emma, I will join your suggested blog, I don't actually hate them I just don't see what good they do and nature usually has a reason for everything.
I don't think that the Wasps rugby team would be to pleased either.

Wasps are good for gardens.
Their diet consists mostly of pests.
Aphids, flies and caterpillars.

Hello Kibitz, that's the first real comment of support for the wasps, as a keen gardener I can support anything that gets rid of aphids. Maybe I should learn to love them just a little bit.

Like kibitz said, they eat pests (apparently) and aren't really that bad. I have been stung once and it was very painful but it just got stuck in my sleeve while I was riding my bike. I used to leg it away from them but they just follow you. Keep still and calm and they //should// just buzz away.
Or, you can do what my mum does, and swat them with an electrified fly swatter. Smokey BBQ wasp. -

I guess they must have some use, but God knows what it is.
