as a police officer I deal with domestic violence..on average a woman will be assaulted by her Partner 34 times before they will report it to police..Why do women take so much abuse from their partners before they do something positive about it..
oh and any women reading this that are suffering abuse PLEASE go to your local domestic Violence unit and get help!!

you are right to mention this, i deal with alot of blokes that have suffered physical abuse but they just wont substantiate it..all to often that they are big srapping blokes and their partner is tiny...i dont know how we could get these blokes to come forward!!????

Good original post Jack, we need reminding about the things that are happening, we need to remember that we can, and that we should, even anonymously, report these things to the police.

Hi emma, it's strange how we would not hesitate to report child abuse but we turn a blind eye when we know of it happening with adults.

The problem with domestic abuse is that it's been so deeply embedded for years within society.... look at the old saying 'A woman, a dog and a walnut tree, the more you beat them the better they be....'
It was considered acceptable (if not normal) years ago, but thankfully things are changing.

there is no answer domestic violence it has and will allways be there, what there needs to be is a robust method of dealing with ALL violence and the confidence of victims to come forward..there are some many things wrong with our way of dealing with violent crime...(all violence is a crime) on so many levels...not just the police not just the perpertrators it needs to be dealt with by all of us at every level ...and challanged by everyone....the people who commit these crimes need to know that society will not take it anymore and we the public have to accept that some of these people need to be taken out of society forever..it is a huge subject that i could go on about for ages....basically we all need to be involved in the solution

We also have to remember though, that it isnt always just women who suffer the abuse - Men do also suffer, and a lot of the times in silence, as they are to ashamed that women beat them up...So also if you are a man suffering, do what Jack said, and go and get help !!
